History of the Division of Veterinary Science

The Division of Veterinary Science, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prince of Songkla University, has undergone significant structural evolution in alignment with the university’s administrative restructuring policies. Historically, the academic framework was bifurcated into two departments: the Department of Pre-clinic and the Department of Clinic. Subsequently, to enhance administrative agility and promote the effective integration of academic missions, the university transitioned from a department-based system to a unified divisional system. Consequently, the Faculty of Veterinary Science consolidated its operations into a single entity: the Division of Veterinary Science.

The Division plays a pivotal role in managing academic programs and producing high-caliber graduates whose competencies meet societal demands. It is dedicated to advancing specialized research, academic services, and the attainment of Strategic Objectives (SO). This commitment is pursued alongside the professional development of personnel to meet veterinary standards and the optimization of internal resources to ensure maximum academic efficiency.

At present, the internal administrative structure of the Division of Veterinary Science is categorized into three academic groups:

  • Pre-clinical Sciences
  • Para-clinical Sciences
  • Clinical Sciences

This integrated structure facilitates a systematic and cohesive approach to teaching, research, and academic services.

A distinguished hallmark of the Division is its unwavering support in developing students’ professional potential. Notably, the Division is ranked among the top five institutions in the country for the highest passing rate in the Veterinary Medical Licensing Examination, out of 12 accredited institutions nationwide. This achievement serves as a testament to the superior quality of our pedagogical management and the exceptional standards of our graduates.
